Transportation of double-glazed windows. What to consider for a successful delivery

Today, the Russian building materials market is ready to offer the end buyer a wide variety of aluminum, plastic and wooden double-glazed windows. Even before concluding a contract for the supply of selected products, it is necessary to carefully consider the most convenient and safe way of delivering a future purchase to its destination.

To transport double-glazed windows, you can use the organization's car: for an acceptable fee, the manager of the company in which the purchase will be made will arrange the delivery of the PVC structure to the place agreed by the customer. However, this option has two significant disadvantages... Firstly, this is the time at which delivery is scheduled (it may not always be convenient, for example, from 10 to 19 hours), and secondly, companies transporting double-glazed windows outside the city (for example, to a summer cottage) are simply it simply may not be. What to do in this case? There is only one way out - to organize self-delivery of purchased double-glazed windows.

What to consider when transporting double-glazed windows

Delivery of metal-plastic structures by a special vehicle is an economically viable option. However, the following points should be considered before shipping:

  • each window frame must be carefully loaded into the transport intended for it;
  • double-glazed windows must be properly fixed in the body of the car to prevent them from overturning and damaging;
  • reliably close the sides of the body to reduce increased wind loads on the windows.

Beforehand, it is necessary to clarify the dimensions and weight of the product and correlate these data with the transport for delivery. You also need to inspect the products for damage and close the sashes.

You cannot install packages on vehicles if they protrude beyond the sides.

Transport requirements

  • The car must have a wooden floor to prevent the load from slipping, hooks for fixing to the sides and floor of the car, pull-down straps for securing the load.
  • For transportation of glass, double-glazed windows and translucent structures not packed in boxes, a transport pyramid is required. The dimensions of the pyramid must correspond to the items shipped.
  • In order to avoid damage to products from atmospheric precipitation and pollution, they should be transported in covered tilt cars.

What types of transportation of plastic windows are

For the transportation of fragile metal-plastic windows, there are several transportation options. Transportation with fastening on a metal truss is considered more reliable.

Transportation by "pyramid"

A "pyramid" is installed in the body of a spacious transport - a profile metal structure, the purpose of which is the safe transportation of plastic windows. After, you need to perform the following actions:

  1. Place the windows in a vertical position on both sides of the pyramid.
  2. Place a soft material (cardboard, cloth, foam sheet) underneath to avoid damaging the frame.
  3. Securely fasten the double-glazed windows so that they cannot move in different directions and rub against each other, or with the pyramid.
  4. Wrap the glass with foil to avoid dust or pebbles.
  5. Transport products at a low speed, minimizing vibration and surges as much as possible.

Transport lying

One window can be transported independently, without being attached to the "pyramid".It is reliably strengthened and transported lying down, having previously laid a sheet of foam plastic on the surface. The second sheet is covered with a double-glazed window from above.

Transportation of plastic windows lying down is carried out at a low speed. When driving, you must avoid sudden movements, braking, turns.

The crucial moment is the loading and unloading of the glass unit. Such actions must be approached carefully, carefully laid and well strengthened so as not to damage the fragile product.

What is the best way to transport double-glazed windows.

To successfully complete this operation, you will need Gazelle car or similar. If there is a need for frequent transportation of double-glazed windows, you can think about purchasing a vehicle, even a "second-hand" option will do. When organizing a one-time transportation, the best solution would be to rent a car. Today, the most reliable way to transport double-glazed windows is considered to be a structure called "pyramid" - a stand fixture fixed in the body of a car and specially designed for reliable transportation of windows in an upright position.

It is worth noting that even when traveling on bad roads, for which the entire post-Soviet space is famous, the "pyramid" device for transporting windows has proven itself from the best side: in addition to its rather large capacity, it does not have such phenomena as deflection and movement of the transported cargo. Thus, the chances of damage to the transported glass units due to their friction against the inner surface of the body are also reduced to zero.

What are pyramids for double-glazed windows

Using special metal pyramids, loaders and riggers ensure the safety of fragile products during their loading and unloading, moving in warehouses. Double-glazed windows are securely fixed with a metal truss and delivered to their destination in excellent condition.

The transportation of double-glazed windows with a pyramid is safe and very convenient, the metal supports of the structure are sheathed with rubber profiles to protect fragile products. The pyramid trusses are tilted for easy loading and unloading of plastic products.

Moving around the production area is carried out using pyramids equipped with wheels. They provide agility and reliability.

You need to fasten the windows to the pyramid using special straps. For self-delivery, you can use a car that has a closed body or an awning that protects the product. Often a gazelle is used for such purposes, in which a pyramid is installed for transporting windows with your own hands.

TRANSPORTATION OF GLASS, STAINED GLASS AND GLASS PANELS

If nature had not "invented" glass, then it would certainly have been invented by man. Glass appeared on earth even before the appearance of the first man, and it did not resemble our glass today, it was opaque, almost black and was of volcanic origin. Such glass could not be used for the purpose that it has now.

Man learned to make glass a little over 5,000 years ago. We find references to glass in ancient Egypt. It was used to make various jewelry and beads. Later they learned to make bottles for oils and perfumes from it. But still, the glass was still opaque and had a tint. The first transparent glass was obtained by man only in the 1st century BC. Then people learned to make flat transparent glass, which we now use everywhere.

Glass is a very fragile, delicate and incredibly beautiful material. Glassware, such as tableware, glasses, mirrors, ornaments, attract with their beauty and rainbow colors. The most important purpose of glass is windows, stained-glass windows.They protect us from cold, rain, wind, through which the sun's rays delight us. Through the windows we observe what is happening on the street, we admire nature, in winter we look at bizarre patterns drawn by frost, behind the glass we are sad, we are happy, in general we live.

All modern cities are a combination of concrete and glass. Glass is used everywhere; no building is complete without glass. And it must be transported and transported carefully, carefully with skill and understanding. The MosAvtoPro company is professionally engaged in the transportation of glass, double-glazed windows, stained-glass windows.

The transportation of glass has its own characteristics, which we have studied over many years of work in the field of transportation of such a fragile material. As a rule, glass is transported in wooden boxes of different sizes, both in height, width and thickness. Glass boxes have different weights, from several hundred kilograms to several tons. Therefore, for the transportation of glass, special pyramids are used - devices made of a shaped pipe that act as a support for boxes with glass. They are made in such a way that they can be used to transport almost all standard sizes of boxes with glass.

Without the use of pyramids, transportation of glass by road is possible only on special machines - panel transporters. But on them, unlike manipulators, which can load and unload themselves, it is also necessary to use a crane, both at the place of loading and at the place of unloading glass. And if the glass needs to be taken to another city? Obviously, the use of pyramid manipulators is the most convenient and less expensive way to transport glass.

Transportation of glass is an extremely important, responsible, and to some extent "lucky" business. But in order not to leave everything at the mercy of a changeable fortune, it is still more prudent to contact the MosAvtoPro company. For safe and reliable transportation of glass, we have containers and pyramids with the necessary leveling and damping clips.

When loading and unloading glass, we use special traverses with vacuum suction grippers, which are also necessary for glass assembly. It is important what the pyramid is installed on for transporting such delicate cargo as glass. The platform of the truck should have a wooden base and floors, as it better dampens vibrations of the pyramid with installed boxes with glass. MosAvtoPro uses cargo platforms with modern pneumatic and spring-spring suspension to transport glass, which affects the safety and reliability of transportation.

The manipulators of the MosAvtoPro company were used to transport five-component glass windows from St. Petersburg from the St. Petersburg company. Showcase double-glazed windows measuring 6000mm * 3150mm and weighing 1.2 tons each; to transport from St. Petersburg and mount using the crane of the same manipulator that delivered these double-glazed windows, without overloading them once again, but immediately installing them in the window opening - this, as they say, is worth a lot. And it's also very, very convenient. This work was carried out at the address Moscow, st. Tverskaya, 2, 4. Also, many banks, car dealerships and restaurants used the services of glass transportation and its installation by our company, the windows of which still delight us with modern beautiful glazing.

The specialists of the MosAvtoPro company carry out all types of glass transportation from any size of boxes with glass to the transportation of oversized double-glazed windows, display glass, stained-glass windows. In conclusion, I would like to once again focus the attention of our clients - do not rely on "maybe", entrust the responsible business to serious professionals who have accumulated extensive experience in glass transportation.

How to transport plastic windows lying

If windows are transported by personal transport, in a passenger car, you need to remove the seats or install a trunk on the roof. Place the fastening belts in the chosen place, and lay a soft cloth or clean cardboard on top. Lay the window horizontally with the hinges facing up. Then reposition it again with material or cardboard and lay a smaller window on top.

In the places where the fastening strap adheres to the metal-plastic product, cardboard or any available soft material must be laid. Turn the "ratchet", put it on the safety lock and inspect the transport.

One window can be transported in this position.

Product packaging requirements

  • The fixation of glass stacks or stacks of glass units is done with a strapping tape. When packing in stacks, each layer is laid with corrugated board or cork. The stack of products should not exceed 5 pieces on each side of the pyramid. The final fixation of the stacks on the pyramid is made with stretch film in the horizontal and vertical directions. Products must be supported along the entire plane.
  • To transport glass in boxes, dry shavings with a layer of 25-30 mm are placed on the bottom, the stacks are tightly installed, the gaps between the stacks are adjusted, as well as between the walls of the box and the stacks. The free space under the box lid is filled with a layer of dry shavings.
  • The packaging must be marked in accordance with GOST 14192-96. The marking contains manipulation signs (indicators of the rules for handling cargo), as well as basic (recipient, destination, number of packages), additional (consignor, point of departure, transport organization) and information labels (gross and net weight, overall dimensions).

Transportation rules

The glass can be transported manually or using vacuum suction cups, while the glass should only move vertically. To avoid damage to the glass, it is strictly not allowed to move it in the horizontal plane!

Transportation of glass should take place at low speeds. Sudden jerks and braking should be avoided. On the way, the driver must check the reliability of the fastening every 100 km of the track and eliminate the defects that have arisen.

Products not packed in boxes are transported on a transport pyramid. The pyramid must be securely fixed and installed with its ends in the direction of travel.

Boxes with double-glazed windows must be installed vertically, also with their ends in the direction of traffic. Under no circumstances should they be stored horizontally. The boxes must be supported along the entire plane and be securely fastened to prevent their spontaneous movement and swing during transportation.

Transportation of products must be carried out in compliance with the requirements of GOST 24866-99 and GOST 22235

Installation of wooden blocks

Rules for transportation, storage and installation of wooden window blocks

  • It is recommended to carry out installation work on the installation of window structures at that stage of the repair of the room, when the finishing part has already been completed, including whitewashing and gluing wallpaper. If further repairs are carried out in the room, the installed wooden windows must be protected from the penetration of dust and lime water;
  • Careful attention should be paid to the level of air humidity, as it can adversely affect the wood and lead to condensation.If window structures are not properly protected, streaks may appear on them, which can completely ruin the paint layer. Also, due to high humidity, there may be a loss of the initial elasticity of the seals and the failure of the fittings;
  • It is extremely important to ensure complete drying of building materials near the window opening, including shelves under the window sill complex and walls. It is not recommended to cover wooden windows with films with sealants, as they inevitably lead to the accumulation of condensation and further damage to the frame and fittings;
  • Do not stick adhesive tape, adhesive tape, or other adhesive-backed materials on window structures.
  • It is necessary to protect wooden windows from quickly drying varnish, chemical solutions and abrasive sponges to remove them;
  • If it is planned to carry out welding in the room, the window systems must be reliably closed from the ingress of red-hot suits and combustion elements;
  • Double-glazed windows and frames must be qualitatively protected from excessive heat input, including from thermal and heating appliances;
  • During the installation of wooden windows with a double-glazed window, it is necessary to monitor the dynamic and static loads on the blocks, among which there may be shocks and falls, as well as the functionality in the opening and closing mode.

These are not all the rules regarding the operation of timber window structures, strict adherence to which will extend the life of your blocks. We will discuss other equally important requirements in our next article.

Rules for storage and transportation of certain types of products
