A convenient model that allows you to ventilate the premises and clean the glass unit without any problems. Thanks to the improved fittings, even large sashes move easily when opening. Also, deaf models are distinguished by a low price, formed mainly due to the presence of a single, but significant drawback: windows of this type, in principle, cannot be opened, which imposes some restrictions, for example, when ventilating. Nevertheless, and this minus turns into a plus when the windows are located inside the premises, on the walls dividing the rooms, or in the inter-corridor partitions - with such windows, as already mentioned above, the interior space is better illuminated.

Openable windows

The embodiment of the idea

First, there was a freehand drawing, the size was determined by eye and based on the remainder of a sheet of moisture-resistant plywood 500x1500 mm, thickness 15 mm.
Let's start implementing the idea. Cut out circles (rings) from plywood for the base of the frame and a little less for the door. From two more rings we make a base for a landing flange, to which we screw a strip of galvanized steel sheet, twisted into a cylinder without a bottom.

We glue the frame ring with two flange rings, additionally use self-tapping screws around the perimeter. We make the door a little smaller than the frame, and instead of glass we use transparent plexiglass from old stocks. We fasten with self-tapping screws from the inside. We attach the door to one furniture hinge. I decided to make it from above, so that the window would open slightly from bottom to top, in case of slanting rains.

A simple aluminum corner and a 6x50 galvanized bolt are responsible for fixing the door. The corner should be movable, it is fixed with the same furniture hinge. The first hole in the corner fixes the door in a position tightly pressed against the frame. The other two holes are used for fixing in the middle and maximum open position for ventilation. For some kind of tightness around the door, I glued a door seal in the form of a D-profile.

The flange made of tin was bent to fit, fixed with rivets and screwed with self-tapping screws with a press washer to the flange made of plywood. It has a depth of about 30 cm, calculated taking into account the insulation of the wall with foam plastic 10 cm thick. The second will be inserted from the inside, after the installation of the hatch window. Then the whole structure was disassembled and impregnated with an antiseptic-impregnation Tikkurila Valtti (Valti Primer) and, after drying, painted with facade glaze Valtti Color (Valtti Color). Color Graphite, looks good. It took about 4 hours to assemble, 1 hour to install the scaffolding and about an hour to knock out a hole in the wall (gas silicate block 30 cm).

Wooden windows all around

A round window in a wooden house or an expensive brick cottage looks more solid than analogs made of plastic or aluminum, so real estate owners prefer to order just such models. Theoretically, these products can be made in 2 ways - by bending a solid bar and by splicing individual small bars (plots). However, in reality, almost all manufacturers use only the second option, since the first method is very long and costly. In addition, a bent profile made of a solid bar has a high tendency to deformation, which is unacceptable for windows.

Frames and sashes made of spliced ​​solid wood keep their shape well. Modern technologies of joining, grinding and finishing make it possible to mask the joints well, so round wooden windows look like a one-piece structure.
